ABC's hit series "Mistresses" is set to return with season two.
Based on a British series of the same name, "Mistresses" follows four long-time friends who either have been a mistress, are affected by a mistress, or seem liable to bee one. The four female leads are Savannah, the attorney; Joss, who is the promiscuous real estate agent; there is April who is the grieving widow and single mom; and Karen, a successful therapist.
This drama proction takes place at Culver Studios in Los Angeles, and our visit starts with meeting the famous South Korean actress Yoon-Jin Kim, who plays Karen.
Alyssa Milano, plays Savannah or Savi, as her friends call her. She’s a controlling but caring attorney who is scheling dates with her chef hu *** and in hopes of making a baby. Since that is not working out, she takes fort in a colleague.
With your character Savi, how have you seen her grow and change throughout season one and now season two?
"Poor Savi. I think she’s going through an adjustment in season two. She’s obviously gone through a lot of changes since the first season, which is good. I think the first season it was all about her really ing to terms with these decisions that she made that affected her marriage and her work atmosphere and her friendships and her family. That first season was really all about the repercussions of her decision," Milano said.
Playing Savi’s mirror-opposite sister is Joss, a real estate agent whose specialty appears to be a disdain for mitment. That part belongs to actress Jess Macallan who said that there was a lot of her in the character she plays.
"She filters into my life a little bit — where all of a sudden my hu *** and is like what the heck is that — like my friends they have a tag line 'that’s so Joss of you.’ When we're not filming it es out — it’s not as prevalent and in your face, but she definitely has a lot of the free spirit, and I have that as well, really, like placency, like I tell people how it is. I’m sure you can tell that. A lot of energy — I’m in your face — that stays throughout,” Macallan said.
Mistresses are quite good at being quite bad. But for every bad girl in the show, there seems to be a bad boy.
"At the beginning of the first season Dom and Savannah work together — they have that perfect work life— they get along perfectly. Dom kind of thinks he’d like to have more, knows he’d like to have more. Savannah’s married, then one night after there’s a lot of problems going on with her relationship, things get funky. At the end of the first season, she’s pregnant. Whose baby is it? This guy," said Jason Gee, who plays Dominic.
After chatting with Jason, one scene is set, ready to shoot. From office stationaries to a giant shoe closet, proction designers and prop artists work with other departments to make sure every detail is on its spot, so no matter how *** all a scene might look on the show, it takes certain magic to meet the proction quality.
What’s your favorite part about this set? Which room would you want to sleep over in if you could one day?
"On the set, I really like Savi’s kitchen. I think it’s probably the really most ideal kitchen ever. You know, it was designed by Savi’s hu *** and, who is a chef, so it’s all perfectly coordinated; it’s very utilitarian, usable. Yeah, I really like the kitchen," Milano said.
The second season of "Mistresses" has new twists and turns and characters seem to have grown up from season one.
What can audiences look forward to in the second season?
"Madness. No, I think there’s a lot more edy," Macallan said.
So it’s an interesting transitional period, I’d say, for Savi. So viewers have a lot to look forward to?
"I hope so. I hope they love it as much as we love doing it," Milano said.
"Mistresses" will be returning for a second season with even more excitement and intrigue.
